Meet the internationally renowned contemporary artist Per Fronth. Tonight he will be showcasing his photography and highlighting the important work Strømme Foundation does with education and job creation in Bangladesh and Nepal. We will also be screening two award winning Norwegian documentaries related to the topic:

A film based on interviews with five Ivorian children that fled the war that broke out in the Ivory Coast after the presidential election in 2010. The children talk about hopes and dreams for the future. The film is a powerful and moving group portrait of children fleeing war and searching for meaning in the companionship with each other in a refugee camp in Liberia.

KAYAYO - THE LIVING SHOPPING BASKETS/KAYAYO – DE LEVENDE HANDLEKURVENE

In the capital of Ghana, 10 000 girls from the age of 6 work as real life shopping baskets - called Kayayo, carrying heavy loads on their head, earning very little and some end up in prostitution to make ends meet. This documentary is about Bamunu, an 8-year old girl who hasn’t seen her family since she was sent away from home two years ago, to work as a Kayayo to support her family. We follow her incessant longing to get away from the harsh markets, her journey back home and what awaits there.
