Information about KICFF 2023!

Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) is Norway’s largest film festival aimed at children and youth (aged 3-19). The festival takes place in the towns of Kristiansand, Arendal and Farsund, located in the beautiful Southern part of Norway. The 26th edition of KICFF will take place from the 25th of April to the 30th of April 2023. 

We accept entries of short films, feature films and documentaries – both live action and animation, from all over the world. Note that we only accept films with first official screening date after January 1st, 2022.

  • Main entry deadline: 15th of December 2022 - Now closed. 
  • Deadline for Norwegian short films (up to 30 min.): 1st of February 2023. Films completed in 2022/2023.

Some of the films will be selected for competition, but most of the films will be screened outside competition.
For films in competition, we are mainly looking for films that will have their Norwegian, European or World Premiere at KICFF.

Here is an overview of our different film awards at KICFF 2023.

  • The KICFF children’s film award: This goes to the best foreign film for children. It includes NOK 50,000 in support to a Norwegian distributor who brings the film to the Norwegian cinemas.
  • Best Norwegian short film: This will be shortlisted for next year's Amanda awards at The Norwegian international film festival in Haugesund.
  • The audience award: A feature or animation film selected by our audience.
  • The ECFA jury's two film awards: Best European documentary and best European children's film.
  • The children's jury's two awards: Best International short film and best international feature film.
  • Award for the best Norwegian pitch (TV series or feature film idea).
