Always Amber

An intimate coming-of-age portrayal about being young and trans, but most of all about being yourself.

For three years we follow Amber's personal journey closely and intimately. Amber and Sebastian are best friends and inseparable. They are two non-binary teenagers who have been there for each other through each of their processes in the Swedish heteronormative society. "We were two little freaks who didn’t fit in anywhere, but we fitted with each other" says Amber about their relationship. The dynamic between the two is drastically changed when they both fall in love with the same person. Amber dares to expose all sides to themselves, from the toughest to the most vulnerable in this documentary that also contains their video diary and old family films.

A candid documentary that discusses trans issues, but essentially it is a film about being human, and being young with recognisable teenage problems.
