Gabi, Between Ages 8 and 13

Growing up is hard. Being true to yourself is harder

We first met Gabi when she is an energetic 8-year-old in Stockholm. She loves playing football, The Sims and playing with her best friend, Henry. Gabi does not like that people treat girls and boys differently and prefers to do whatever she wants no matter the perceived gender idea. Everything changes when she must move with her family to a small town far away from Stockholm. Gabi has to find new friends, which is especially hard when people can't quite put you in the normal boxes with everyone else. At first, she tries to fit in by filtering herself, but that does not work long term. As if this was not enough puberty is getting closer by the second and Gabi is not looking forward to it whatsoever.

In this movie we follow Gabi´s journey from 8 years old to 13 years old. We observe her struggles of being herself, finding her identity and at the same time trying to convince everyone around her that all of it is completely normal.
