A 12-year-old boy moves to the Alps when his parents buy an old hotel. While helping renovate the building, he discovers that the antique elevator can transport him back to 1938. There, he befriends two local children, unaware at first of the growing threat of National Socialism that casts a shadow over their lives. As he moves between past and present, he begins to understand the weight of history and its consequences.
