The young swimmer Hanna and her best friend Andreas decide to flee from East Germany to the West in the summer of 1989. To escape state surveillance, they embark on a dangerous 50-kilometer swim across the Baltic Sea. The film explores youth rebellion, friendship, and the struggle for freedom under an oppressive regime.
