The ECFA jury (European Children´s Film Assosiation) gives out The ECFA AWARD to the BEST EUROPEAN CHILDREN'S FILM. The winning film is nominated to take part in the selection of the year's best children's film in Europe, which is awarded in connection with the Berlin Film Festival.

Simon Schmidt

His passion for film led Simon Schmidt to work for several film festivals and film projects during and following his studies in sociology and social work. After working in schools with a focus on digital learning, he returned to the field of film festivals. Combining his pedagogical experience with film literacy, he coordinates film education and school cooperations for LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Lovers (Frankfurt, Germany) since 2022, encouraging young people to »Get involved!« via various participatory projects.

Michiko Tachimoto

Michiko Tachimoto, born in Ishikawa, Japan, is an Associate Professor at Osaka University of Arts and founder of the creative label “colobockle.” She works widely across illustration and design for children, creating picture books, educational materials, posters, packaging, character design, products, textiles, clothing, video works, and toys. Her richly colorful work is known for sparking imagination. She is the author of numerous picture books and interactive titles, published and translated internationally across Europe and Asia.

She studied at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed postgraduate studies in Theater & Performance at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts & King’s College in London. She has experience in the field of theater as a director and producer and has directed, coordinated and overseen large-scale television projects and events for young audiences.
